Our passion for unique architecture drives us and lets us realize individual projects in facade construction. Together we bundle our expertise and grow from project to project and we are happy to pass on our know-how. For a few months now, Farnaz and Yuki have been working with us in the field of architecture as working students, who can directly combine theoretical knowledge from university with practical experience.

Read the following interview to find out how they perceive their time at BENEDICT + RIVA and what they enjoy most:

Question 1: Dear Farnaz, dear Yuki, please introduce yourselves!

Farnaz: My name is Farnaz, I am 23 years old. I completed my bachelor's degree in architecture in Iran and have been living in Germany for about six months. I am currently in the second semester of my master's degree in architecture and have been working as a student trainee at BENEDICT + RIVA for about five months.

Yuki: My name is Yuki, I am from China and I am 26 years old. I have completed my bachelor's degree at HS-Anhalt. I am currently in my fourth semester studying my Master of Architecture at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau.

Question 2: How did you hear about BENEDICT + RIVA?

Farnaz: At the beginning of my studies, I decided to gain work experience alongside my studies in order to develop my skills as an architect. For this reason, I searched for suitable jobs on various online platforms such as LinkedIn. When I discovered the ad from BENEDICT + RIVA, I realized that my skills and knowledge were a perfect fit for this position. I was also particularly impressed by BENEDICT + RIVA's website, especially their projects. That's why I was happy to decide to apply for a job with you.

Yuki: I found out about BENEDICT + RIVA through the Internet. BENEDICT + RIVA offers a pleasant working environment, a gym card, a weekly German course, and various trainings, so I know that I can develop myself at BENEDICT + RIVA not only at work but also personally. This convinced me to apply here.

Question 3: Thinking back, how were your early days with BENEDICT + RIVA?

Farnaz: Looking back, my early days at BENEDICT + RIVA were honestly quite challenging! I was completely new in Germany and had just started my studies. Everything was completely new to me. I had to juggle my job, my studies, and my personal life all at the same time - and all in my third language, German! There were so many new things to learn and get used to. Fortunately, my colleagues were very nice and patient. They gave me the space to settle in and learn.

Yuki: What I remember most is how warmly I was received by the team. My colleague Joe, in particular, always helped me with any questions I had and together we were always able to quickly solve any problems that arose. In general, I find the atmosphere at BENEDICT + RIVA to be very good, everyone supports each other and we meet weekly for lunch and a chat. That's an office culture I really agree with.

Question 4: What do you enjoy most about your job?

Farnaz: I get great pleasure when I successfully overcome challenges or complete a task and can see the end result. Likewise, it fulfills me when I have the opportunity to learn new things and grow in my job.

Yuki: My work is quite varied, so far I have built 3D models, created animations or answered questions from builders, gathered and reviewed information, and drawn window and door details. I can learn a lot from each part, but my favorite part of the job is still creating 3D models.

Question 5: Do you have a special moment, learning or story that you would like to share with us?

Farnaz: A moment that is particularly close to my heart is when we are all eating together in the office and at the same time immersed in lively conversations. Since our team is multicultural, I find it extremely fascinating how we exchange ideas on different topics and gain new insights into other cultures. These exchanges bring us all closer together and broaden our horizons.

Yuki: Some time ago, I was working all day on an animation that absolutely had to be finished in the afternoon. Unfortunately, when it was finished, it was not successfully saved. I was very upset, but my colleague didn't blame me and calmed me down. We waited a day and then got the finished animation clip and everything was fine again.

We thank you for the great interview with the exciting impressions and wish Farnaz and Yuki another successful time with us!
